The chair you sit on, sometimes in a hotel lobby, sometimes in a stylish restaurant, sometimes in a cozy cafe, represents a product that goes through 15 different stages, from log to upholstery.
When we begin a project at Leta, we ensure that all stakeholders meticulously follow the details. Therefore, it is crucial that every link in the chain, from the arrival of the logs at our factory to their completion on site, proceeds correctly. This process requires meticulous planning and execution of every stage within the Horeca furniture production process.
Come, join us on the journey of a chair.
In the Footsteps of Wood: The First Step of the Journey
In our factory, which operates in accordance with sustainable forestry principles, the initial dimensioning process is carried out on the logs that have been processed into timber, forming the basis of our Horeca projects and Hospitality furniture production processes.
“The right choice of raw materials directly defines the final outcome,” says Metin, the Master Artisan, who has led our production unit for many years. He continues: “The durability of a product depends not only on the techniques used to assemble it, but also on selecting the right materials suited to its purpose. True quality is not about the thickness of the wood; rather, it comes from using well-dried, refined materials and applying the correct joining techniques.”
Wood is a living material. It moves, expands, or contracts depending on humidity, heat, and environmental conditions. Even after processing, deformation can occur without proper drying and appropriate storage.
During the woodworking process, natural drying and kiln drying with controlled moisture levels are applied. After surface smoothing and thickness reduction, the preliminary processes are completed by bringing the pieces to standard dimensions. These stages constitute the most basic answers to the question of what are the stages of wooden chair production.
Precision Manufacturing and Design with CNC
The chair design process, in line with Leta Contract's approach and its philosophy of producing movable furniture, continues with drawings and plans before production, as well as during the production process.
Detailed studies are conducted on the production files prepared before the machining stage. Channels, joints, and holes are opened on the products machined on CNC machines. Although it is thought that CNC machines solve everything automatically, in reality, if the correct programming, tool selection, speed settings, and machining strategy are not in place, the result will be flawed. CNC is a technology that requires expertise. This approach ensures the maintenance of standards in Horeca projects within the scope of contract furniture production processes.
The Invisible Power: The Role of the Source
Just like CNC machines, welding and metalworking stages in hotel, restaurant, and cafe furniture production processes are also precision components. A strong weld seam is achieved with the right heat, the right wire, proper penetration, and a clean surface. Excess material does not necessarily mean a good weld. If slag, burrs, and spatter are not removed, problems will arise during assembly and painting.
Where Craftsmanship and Technology Meet
For a chair to be both ergonomically and aesthetically successful, within the framework of Hospitality projects and the Horeca furniture production concept, it depends on the power of technology combined with the quality of craftsmanship.
The focus is on detail work, with hand-applied corrections such as sanding and corner rounding.
The parts are assembled to form a skeleton during the assembly phase. Attention to pressing and drying times is crucial at this stage.
Surface Treatment Stages: Precision and Teamwork
When it comes to surface treatments, the first step is priming, followed by applications such as paint, varnish, and lacquer.
Even with the same paint, variations in batch size, lighting, surface preparation, or application equipment can result in tonal differences. Applying too many coats can lead to drying problems, orange peel appearance, and cracking. Process management requires teamwork.
Then comes further drying and intermediate sanding processes.
Precise Workmanship and Material Application in Flooring
In the upholstery section, the product undergoes foam cutting and fabric or leather covering. Each step of the upholstery process requires careful attention. An overly tight cover can cause seams to burst, distort the shape, and reduce the product's ergonomics over time.
Sewing quality is determined by operator skill, thread tension, needle selection, and settings appropriate to the fabric type. Since not all fabrics are sewn the same way, the needle type, stitch length, and sewing speed must vary according to the fabric type.
The Chair's Journey is in its Final Stage
During the final assembly stage, after the upholstered parts are attached to the chair, final tightening and balance and stability checks are performed.
Quality control is performed on the visual aspects. Seating and load tests are conducted. Processes carried out during the surface or painting stages are checked in detail.
The product, packaged with protective wrapping, takes its place in our warehouse and reaches the shipping stage. These checks, within the scope of quality control stages in chair production, guarantee the durability and safety of the product.
Leta's Production Journey and Sustainability Vision
At our factory, within the scope of furniture projects carried out under the Leta signature, we operate in accordance with sustainable forestry principles, starting from the cutting of logs obtained through tenders of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Turkey.
In our modern facility covering a total area of 65,000 m² in the Bursa İnegöl Furniture Specialized Organized Industrial Zone, we produce using world-class production lines with our professional team, always striving for improvement.
At Leta, the journey of a chair reflects a holistic production approach; it begins with the selection of raw materials in accordance with sustainable forestry principles, and is completed with advanced technology production processes and skilled hand craftsmanship.
Furthermore – The Journey of a Chair
All products, especially hotel, cafe, and restaurant chairs, are meticulously manufactured within the scope of Horeca furniture solutions, combining aesthetics, durability, and comfort with a project-specific design approach. Throughout this process, every detail is considered with a quality-focused approach, from initial cutting to final assembly, ensuring that the products add value to the spaces they serve.
